Our Story

Founded by Christian Schenk in 2004, the Community Music School of Northern New York began as Music Education Centers at Uncle Andy’s Place to make music accessible beyond traditional school programs. Starting in a spare bedroom of his Rochester home in 2004, the school relocated to commercial sites due to growing demand, most recently The Piano Works in East Rochester until its closure in July 2023. After expanding to Watertown, NY in January 2020, the Watertown studio is now the flagship and will transition to a nonprofit organization in 2025.
